NUCLEAR POWER STATIONS: SAFE AS OIL DEPOTS? Print E-mail

27th December 2005

I hear some people near Oldbury are campaigning for a new nuclear reactor to be built there when the existing one is shut down. Oldbury is close enough, as the neutron flies, to be of real concern to Gloucester's residents, few of whom would welcome another nuclear reactor on our doorstep.

Nuclear power is not the best way to meet our energy needs while tackling pollution and climate change.

I know we've all been assured of the safety of nuclear power stations. They must be just as safe as oil storage depots, mustn't they?

Robert Rendell, Brockworth
