John Marjoram responds to SNJ correspondents
I must admit that I find it slightly intriguing that two of the local Labour Party members, through your columns (letters 2nd December) should suggest that it is the Greens and seemingly us alone, who are damaging their chances at the General Election We are aware that Labour is now trying to appear green in a further 30 constituencies where we are doing well. ("Independent on Sunday" 6th December)
However, the full responsibility rests entirely with them. For the past 12 years they have virtually abandoned their core member values of equality, peace and justice. We know as a good number of our Green Party members came to us from the Labour Party, having given up hope of Labour actually practising what it used to preach.
We consider that we have an excellent candidate in Martin Whiteside,
whose team will work hard with him, to continue to bring a distinct and
radical Green,anti-povertyand pro-peace agenda to the General Election
debate.
