CAM, DURSLEY AND WOTTON GREEN MEETING Print E-mail

miriam_yagud23rd June 2009

Following the success of Greens in the recent elections - a massive 19% of the vote in Stroud District we are now looking to expand the party to have more meetings in the south of the District. The first of these is set for 2nd July in Dursley. See here for new party group in Cotswolds.

We would like to take this opportunity through your pages to thank everyone who voted for us in the County Council elections. As your Green Party candidates for Wotton-under-Edge and Cam and Dursley, we were delighted to achieve 10% of votes locally and 19% across the Stroud district.

This is the first time that the Green Party has stood in the County Election so this was a fantastic response from the community. We see this as a sign that local people are looking for new and creative solutions to our problems. We all felt it a privilege to be a local candidate and to highlight important Green Party policies on the environment, social justice and public services where we live.

We are delighted to have our first Green Party County Councillor, Sarah Lunnon, elected to the Council so we know that your concerns and ours will now get an airing within the council.

Working together, we can take positive steps to create a better life for all.

We are holding a meeting in Dursley for anyone to find out more about the Green Party and what we are doing locally. The meeting will be on Thursday 2nd July at 7.30pm at the Methodist Church meeting room on Castle Street Dursley.

Whether you voted Green or not, we would like to invite you to come and share your concerns and ideas.
