District Councillor Fi Macmillan and Parish councillor Chris Harmer (pictured) have raised concerns regarding a disused rubbish dump that is leaking into the Newmarket valley and possibly polluting the stream.

Chris Harmer, who is one of the residents who has raised concerns, said: "The tip resembles a clay, rubble and rubbish glacier which has run right down the hillside and into the Miry Brook at the bottom. The brook has tunneled its way under the obstruction but the tip contents are clearly in contact with the watercourse and there is a clear pollution concern for all watercourses downstream."

Stroud District Council who have been monitoring the site, say that recent heavy rains have caused the waste material to enter the brook. SDC have responded to concerns saying they will be investigating further and will take appropriate action.
