See Cllr Lunnon's challenge to Council's to make roads suitable for all users.

Following the correspondence on the state and use of the Stroud to Nailsworth cycle path I have subsequently cycled along it several times. As a dedicated transport route for cyclist it is not suitable, apart from the state and width of the surface there is also the issue of dogs and walkers wandering onto your path. So I understand cllr Elizabeth Bird and cllr Stan Waddingtons response, there is a need to keep the speed of cyclists down to protect the more vulnerable users of the path.
Accepting this philosophy I look forward to it being applied elsewhere. That is designing our roads in such a way that traffic speeds are reduced to protect the most vulnerable users, cyclists and pedestrians. Perhaps Cllr Waddington can let me know when the A46 and other main roads will be re-designed so it is suitable for me and my children to cycle along as a means of transport and not as a leisure activity.
