Statement to Stroud Life from Fi Macmillan on her hopes for her term as a District councillor in Nailsworth
Photo: Fi's election on Friday
Thank you to the voters of Nailsworth and Horsley for this honour. I will work with others to see improvements in the provision of affordable housing so that locals can still afford to live here. I also want to see more support for our existing youth services and moreactive measures to curb the underage drinking which is wrecking many ofour young and creating anti-social behaviour.
I will work to see the provision of free insulation for all householders and more renewable energy on homes: elsewhere such Green-initiated schemes are paid for byutility companies and mean people save money and tackle climatechange. Public transport provision and use in Nailsworth and Horsleyneeds improvement and I would also like to see better prioritisedcycling and pedestrian routes through Nailsworth and into Horsley. Old Market needs regeneration to create a town centre of which we can beeven more proud.
Lastly I would like to see more community-managedrecreation space and, given rising food prices, orchards and allotmentsseem good place to start. I look forward to listening and working withthe community to bring about the changes we need and want.
