ECHO ELECTION BIAS OVER AIRPORT? Print E-mail

Plane1st May

The Echo again printed a letter by a Lib Dem candidate for Cheltenham Borough Council over Staverton Airport, but has declined to print a Green party response from Cheltenham Green party Coordinator. See our latest letter to the Echo. It has been Greens who have led the opposition protests to expansion, it would seem fair to have that voice recognised.

I am at a loss to understand how you decided to give a second publication to Leone Meyer's letter about the airport (Echo April 24  & 30th), and have so far declined to publish my comment on her ideas (copy here).

The debate about how we adapt our economy to the challenges of climate change and peak oil is an important one.  We are not yet being given clear leads by our politicians.  The Lib Dems have a national policy and then contradict it at a local level.

Our survival depends upon clear policies from government allied to imaginative adaptations by industry and an enthusiastic espousal of carbon saving by all individuals.  Repeating one letter does not forward the debate.

I will be interested in your comments.
