Letter to SNJ about priorities for improving Nailsworth

MADAM

According to the Nailsworth Town Action Plan, three of the top twelve priorities for the town are car related.  Parking, congestion and speed come up repeatedly.  Surely, with the Climate Change Bill coming into force at a national level and rising fuel prices, we might consider how to get less cars coming into Nailsworth - not more.

Old Market is an ideal place for linking individuals with the excellent bus service into Stroud, and onward rail links.  Why not some high profile, top quality, covered bike housing?  This provides an incentive for individuals to cycle into town from the surrounding villages for their shopping, or make on onward journey on public transport.  Could we have better publicity of bus routes and times, the new Car Club facilities from Nailsworth, and Walk to School schemes? The discussion we need in Nailsworth is not about a Taxi Rank - it is about reducing car use and making our town the best it can be.
