CLIMATE CHANGE BILL "DANGEROUSLY UNAMBITIOUS": Stroud Greens were highly critical of the Government's Queens Speech particularly that it is woefully inadequate to tackle climate change. Greens also criticised the government's proposed climate change bill as 'dangerously unambitious' and questioned whether David Drew 'inhabits the real world' following his criticisms of Martin Whiteside.
A MONSTER INCINERATOR AND GREEN WASTE: Philip Booth's blog carries details of the draft Green party policy on waste and Green party members have been working to try and get this view heard by the County Council. Cllr Sarah Lunnon is due to talk on Severn Sound tomorrow on this issue.
GREEN DELIGHT AT TRAIN OPERATORS MOVE TO HELP VILLAGES: First Great Western have responded to calls by Philip Booth for fare cuts to encourage more people onto trains.
GOVERNMENT CUTS ENVIRONMENT SPENDING: Greens criticised planned Government cuts in DEFRA spending of £300 million that will hit coastal and river flood protection, climate change, canals, animal health - and will bear heavily upon rural counties like Gloucestershire
GREEN MAYOR WELCOMES WEST PAPUA LEADER TO STROUD: Benny Wenda spoke at an Amnesty meeting in town and Greens will fly the West Papua Flag in High Street, Stroud at 11.00am on Saturday 1st December in support of their Independence Day
SUPERMARKETS AND GM: Green letters expressed anger at the Competition Commisions call for more supermarkets and the shocking extent of Government funding of GM.
OTHER ISSUES: Sarah Lunnon on traffic calming in Stroud, John Marjoram with several letters on Hunts Grove and one on white poppies, Philip Booth on Staverton airport again plus fish in Stroudwater and a FoE report lists Gloucester Green party amongst 260 SW groups taking action on climate change dead. A former Forest Green party member has released online a preview of his film 'A Convenient Truth' - a film about the world getting better. Over 30 people joined the October cafe discussion on "How can we best achieve real change: through politics, direct action or pressure group?" while a similar number looked at transport issues in the November discussion.

Saturday 8th Dec: National Climate Change March – London. Speakers include George Monbiot and Caroline Lucas. A coach will be leaving from Gloucester about 8.00 am , with two pick-up points in Cheltenham and Cirencester and return to Gloucestershire by 7.00 pm: seats will cost £10 per person.
