Two coaches are leaving from Gloucester, Cheltenham and Cirencester to join other campaigners in London on the National Climate Change March on Saturday 8th December (i). In Stroud the Green party are organising an event in the High Street to highlight the issue (ii). The events are timed to coincide with Gordon Brown's arrival at crucial global climate talks in Bali, Indonesia.
Philip Booth, a Green party member and Stroud District councillor, who will join marchers in London said: "Four weeks ago we wore poppies and joined in remembering those who have died in service. This Saturday is an opportunity to think about our future and join people in over 60 countries expressing our concern, not just for ourselves, but for future generations in the face of climate change. Join us in London or Stroud to tell our leaders they must take radical action now."
Update from Cathy Green, organiser of the coaches: "Just a quick email to let you know we have booked a second coach to the Climate March this Saturday 8th December leaving from Cheltenham Royal Well bus station at 9.00 am and returning to Cheltenham by 7.00 pm. Tickets still only £12 each... please come and join us and show the world you care about what is going on at the climate talks in Bali...Please email me ASAP for a seat and you can pay when you turn up on the day - make sure you arrive by 8.45 am to have your photo in the ECHO! A few seats are still available on the earlier coach picking up at Cirencester Beeches car park at 8.30 am if anyone from Cirencester wants to come. Email Cathy:<cathyclimatechange@yahoo.co.uk>"
