GREEN VOTED POLITICIAN OF THE YEAR: TIME TO ELECT MARTIN Print E-mail

8th June 2007

For those who prefer their local paper to the national media I would like to pass on the good news that a Green politician has been awarded the title of Politician of the Year by the Observer. I don’t mean a politician who only claims to be green around election time, or one who says they will do green things but then votes for more airports or new nuclear power stations when you aren’t watching. Caroline Lucas is living proof that if you want green policies you should vote for green politicians.

In the recent elections Greens got 35% average in the 12 seats we contested in Stroud—and more votes overall than either Labour or the Lib Dems. Voting Green is even more important in general elections than in European or local ones. So let’s elect Martin Whiteside to represent Stroud at Westminster next time around and have Britain’s first Green MP.

Yours faithfully

Molly Scott Cato
