Green majority on Town improved and Greens are now third largest group on District Council.

Greens held their 4 seats in Stroud District with increased majorities, missed Nailsworth by 12 votes and came a close second in Central ward. On Stroud Town Council Greens gained one more seat to have 11 out of 18 seats. In the Forest it was the first time Greens have stood and although no seats gained they had some excellent results including missing one by 35 votes - but did get 2 Town councillors. In Gloucester and Tewkesbury the Green vote held up. Click 'Read More' for more detailed results as they come in.

Cllr Philip Booth, commenting on the Stroud District elections said: "We convincingly held our 4 seats in Stroud, are now the third largest group on the District Council and narrowly missed winning both Central ward and Nailsworth. With rising emissions, profit being put before people and the need to develop our local economies Green politicians are needed now more than ever. It is disappointing our electoral system doesn't fairly reflect the Green vote, however it is clear we look set for more gains next year."
