ALTERNATE WEEKLY COLLECTIONS DON'T LEAD TO RATS Print E-mail

30th March 2007

Cllr Philip Booth, commenting on the fear of rats with fortnightly rubbish collections said: "Enviros consulting and Cranfield university have researched the issue of alternate weekly collections introduced by local government, and whether it will bring rats and other problems. It turns out that if you bag up rubbish properly, there are no adverse health impacts. Local authorities need to design systems that work for them, but whatever we need to tackle our waste problems dramatically and quickly: our Government remains too complacent with still no tax on excess packaging."
