Summary of key recommendations in our response:

  • Planning must include oil and gas depletion scenarios (Peak Oil and Gas)
  • Demand reduction is first priority
  • Support growth of renewables, particularly decentralised and micro generation
  • No new nuclear – it’s too expensive and dangerous
  • Carbon abatement, clean coal with carbon capture and storage, is preferable to nuclear
  • Plan for introduction of Tradable Energy Quotas
  • Internationally promote Contraction and Convergence
