18-Apr-2006 Stroud Green Party submitted a comprehensive response to the DTI Energy Review. Stroud Green Party Response to DTI Energy Review (380 KB) For more information on the Energy Review see: www.dti.gov.uk/energy/review
Summary of key recommendations in our response: - Planning must include oil and gas depletion scenarios (Peak Oil and Gas)
- Demand reduction is first priority
- Support growth of renewables, particularly decentralised and micro generation
- No new nuclear – it’s too expensive and dangerous
- Carbon abatement, clean coal with carbon capture and storage, is preferable to nuclear
- Plan for introduction of Tradable Energy Quotas
- Internationally promote Contraction and Convergence
